Final Call for Papers on Geographical Education

The IGU Commission on Geographical Education extends our invitation for the submission of papers in Teaching and Learning in Geography to the IGU community. With the permission of the Organising Committee we will organise two days of activity at the IGU Regional Conference, with these papers complementing workshop, panel and Commission sessions in the programme. 
We encourage the offering of papers in geographical education at the primary, secondary or tertiary level and we have existing research themes on:

opsommingsteken  good practice in any area of teaching and learning geography (cartography, cultural studies, physical geography, fieldwork, GIS etc),
opsommingsteken working with gifted and talented learners,
opsommingsteken bridging the concepts to content gap,
opsommingsteken assessment practices,
opsommingsteken the multi-cultural classroom,
opsommingsteken teachers as learners - professional development priorities,
opsommingsteken children¨s learning styles,
opsommingsteken teaching digital futures in geography.

Submission of papers on other aspects of teaching and learning in geography will also be welcomed.

Participants are welcome to submit abstracts relevant to the Commission on Geographical Education. Please indicate at the bottom of your abstract that you would like to present within the framework of the Commission of Geographical Education, commission number 11.

Abstracts will be sent for review and authors will be informed in due time whether their abstract/s have been accepted.  Inclusion of abstracts in the scientific program and on the Disc of Abstracts is dependent on payment of registration fees.

Abstracts should be submitted online (at geography@targetconf.com ) or via email to geography@targetconf.com.  If by email, the abstract should be saved as a Word document and sent as an attachment, please do not send as a PDF file. If you use MS Word 2007, please save your file as a document that can be opened in MS Word 2003.


The deadline for the receipt of abstracts is:  MARCH 15, 2010.
